Pantry Basics: Quick Tip – Little Bags of Bacon

Having little bags of bacon in my freezer is what helps me turn an OK meal into a great one.  Since I usually don’t need an entire package of bacon for a particular recipe,  I take the bacon and divide it up into small plastic bags, two slices per bag.  Then I put the individual bags into a large plastic freezer bag and toss the whole thing into the freezer.  Whenever I need a  little bacon, I just pull a little bag of bacon out of the freezer and I’m all set.

Two strips of bacon can do so much to improve any meal.  It’s just enough to fry up and create a delicious hot bacon dressing for a salad or combine it with some blue cheese to create a luscious topping for a grilled steak.

Using this trick helps me in two ways.  One, I don’t have to worry about whether or not I have fresh bacon because it’s in the freezer…and two, I don’t have to defrost a whole package.  I can take just what I need.

What’s your favorite kitchen Quick Tip?

Enjoy!

Love,

Mary
