- 16 ounces Honey
Slice garlic, ginger, and turmeric and add to a clean jar large enough to hold honey.
Pour honey into a jar and come up to within an inch of the rim of the jar. Be sure to cover the garlic, ginger, and turmeric with the honey.
Place a cap onto the jar and place it into the refrigerator. Allow to steep for a minimum of 4 weeks. After the steeping time, you can take the immune boosting honey by the teaspoonful during a cold or the flu.
In order to fully infuse the honey with the immunity-boosting properties of ginger, garlic, and turmeric, it needs to steep for at least four weeks.
Make sure to use fresh garlic, turmeric, and ginger for the best results.
At the onset of a cold, I take 1 teaspoon daily as an adult. Check with your physician as to what is the proper dosage for you. Check with your pediatrician as to the proper dosage for children. Honey should never be given to children under the age of 1.
Shelf Life: The Herbal Academy of New England says that a syrup will last for one year refrigerated if it has a 20% sugar content. This syrup has greater than a 20% sugar content provided by the honey so it will last for one year as long as you keep it cold and don’t contaminate the contents.
Always use a clean spoon when taking some from the jar. Plus, the honey has antiviral, antibacterial, and antimicrobial properties that help to maintain the freshness of the syrup.
