Lemon Hot Toddy (Alcohol-Free)
This alcohol-free Hot Toddy is perfect to have on hand as a natural home remedy during cold and flu season.

Sharp knife
Blender, food processor, or heat-proof bowl
Wooden spoon or spatula
Tea kettle or small saucepan for boiling water
- 8 ounces Water brought to a boil
- 1 whole Lemon, peel and flesh chopped
- 1/4 tsp Chili flakes 1/8 teaspoon chili powder can be substituted.
- 1-2 tbsp Ginger simple syrup See "RECIPE NOTES" below for link to ginger simple syrup recipe. Also, please see note of "CAUTION" also in "RECIPE NOTES."
Add boiled water to a blender or another vessel you are using.
Add a cut-up lemon to boiled water. Carefully drop lemon pieces into boiled water so that the water does not splash up on you.
Add the chili flakes.
Blend water, lemon, and chili flake mixture for 30-60 seconds until fully blended. If using a bowl, macerate ingredients using a wooden spoon or spatula for at least 60 seconds.
Strain solids and decant the liquid into a heatproof mug. If the liquid has cooled, you can warm it gently on the stove.
Add 1-2 tablespoons of the ginger simple syrup to the lemon hot toddy and drink.
You can prepare your Lemon Hot Toddy in advance and gently rewarm it when you are ready to consume it. You can also easily double this recipe.
CAUTION: Never feed honey, of any kind, to babies/infants younger than 1 year old.
