Are you ready to make Tallow Lavender Foot Cream? Yes, ladies, we’ve put beef fat on our faces, and now we’re going to put it on our feet!
All kidding aside, as I shared with you when I showed you how to make Tallow Balm for your face and body, this cream made from rendered beef fat and a touch of olive oil is quite soothing to all types of skin, particularly dry skin, and especially dry heels.

Tallow Lavender Foot Cream for Restful Sleep
You’ll love using this cream on your feet, and it’s especially wonderful for dry, cracked heels. By adding lavender oil, we’ve made the most soothing nighttime foot cream since lavender has been associated with contributing to a restful sleep.
So be sure to rub this cream into your heels and all over your feet, then slip on your socks and head to bed. You’ll get a great night’s sleep, and in the morning, your feet will feel petal-soft!
Note of caution: Make sure that you test the cream on a small area of your inner arm to make sure that the lavender essential oil does not irritate your skin.
Personalize Your Foot Cream
As with making Tallow Balm, this recipe for making Lavender Foot Cream is quite flexible. With the rendered beef fat, you’ll want to add a bit of oil of your choice, such as:
- Olive oil
- Sesame oil
- Avocado oil
- Coconut oil
I like to add olive oil, but you can use any nourishing oil you want.
And you don’t need to worry about the smell of your homemade Lavender Foot Cream made from tallow. After you add a few drops of lavender essential oil, you’ll never know you’re putting beef fat on your feet!

Lavender Foot Cream
Equipment
- Double boiler or sauce pan combined with a small bowl that can fit over the sauce pan
- Hand held electric beater or stand mixer
Ingredients
- 3.5 ounces Beef tallow
- 2 tablespoons Olive oil or other oil of choice, such as sesame oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil
- 25-50 drops Lavender essential oil
Instructions
- Melt the tallow in the top pot of a double boiler or in a bowl that fits over a saucepan. (You should fill the lower part of the double boiler or the saucepan with about 2 inches of water that you have brought to a medium simmer.) Once melted, turn off the heat and add the olive oil to the melted tallow and stir well.
- Remove the double boiler or saucepan and fitted bowl and allow the tallow to cool at room temperature for approximately 10 minutes.
- Now add the lavender essential oil. Mix well.
- Allow the mixture to cool in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or up to 1 hour. Then remove the mixture from the refrigerator and use an electric hand mixer (or stand mixer with the whip attachment) to whip the balm into a cream-like consistency.
- Decant the foot cream into a lidded jar, and store in a cool dark place, such as a cabinet or pantry.
- The shelf life of the balm is approximately 1 year. Please see "Important Information" in the Recipe Notes section below before using any cream made with tallow balm and essential oils.
