A Christmas Carol
If cooking a roast goose with sage and onion stuffing sounds familiar, you’re probably a fan of Charles Dickens’s famous book, A Christmas Carol. As I’ve talked about in previous blog posts and videos, this book is one of my favorite stories of all time. I love the theme of redemption.
Out of all the movie adaptations of A Christmas Carol, I like Scrooge with Albert Finney the best, but that’s probably because I grew up with that musical movie and remember seeing it in New York City with my parents in 1970. (I introduced my family to this musical adaption, and we still enjoy the memorable music to this day.)
My husband Ted introduced me to two television versions of A Christmas Carol that he enjoyed. He loves the version with George C. Scott in 1984 and the relatively more recent one with Patrick Stewart in 1999. I like both adaptations since they follow the storyline but add their own details and scenes of what life must have been like in Dickens’ England.
If you have a favorite A Christmas Carol movie or TV adaptation, let me know in the comments below.
P.S. Of course, our all-time favorite is our son Ben’s version of A Christmas Carol.
