In these inflationary times, traditional home cooks are looking for bargains at their grocery stores. They need to refill their working pantries and work on stocking their extended pantries when the products they need are on sale. Fortunately, many grocery stores, like Aldi, are stepping up to offer quality, cheap foods at low prices, giving us home cooks some relief in the pocketbook.
In today’s shopping video, I’ll show you 10 cheap categories of foods you need to buy now at Aldi while they’re still available. Priced under $1 or $2 dollars, these products may go fast, so be sure to visit your local Aldi to restock your Four Corners Pantry today!

Aldi Best Cheap Foods Video
I’d like to receive more tips and recipes from Mary’s Nest.
Shopping at Aldi
It’s no surprise that Aldi is one of the leaders in offering low prices to their customers. I’ve visited many grocery stores and big box stores to recommend traditional or inexpensive foods you should consider stocking in your Four Corners Pantry. Here are the previous videos I published that focused on Aldi’s popular and affordable offerings:

In the Central Texas area, we have two Aldi’s north of Austin, one in Pflugerville and the other in Georgetown. Although their “aisle of shame” product offerings may differ, their basic products and prices are essentially the same for this area. Let me know if your favorite Aldi location has similar prices and products.
Seeking Bargains at Aldi
With food prices rising around us, I thought I should challenge myself to see if there were still bargains for quality food at Aldi in Georgetown. Can you still buy food for $1 or $2 from Aldi that doesn’t contain the additives, such as high fructose corn syrup, that we traditional foods cooks want to avoid?
And if there are foods like that, can we bring them together to make nutritious meals for our family? It wouldn’t do us any good to be able to buy lots of pasta without being able to add protein to it. Thankfully, as I show you in today’s Aldi video, I was able to find inexpensive products and talk about how you can use them to make a healthy, tasty, and filling dinner for your family.
Note: In addition to inflation eating away at your grocery budget, you may also be worried about the possibility of government-imposed price controls upsetting the marketplace and making products more difficult to come by. The good news is that you can take action no matter what the future holds. I show you how to prep a pantry that can withstand price controls by focusing on the 3 essential foods to stock now.
Food Categories Under $1 and $2 Dollars
Here are the 10 categories of cheap foods under $1 and $2 that I show in today’s Aldi video:
- Pasta
- Tomato Products
- Canned Proteins
- Beans and Lentils
- Vegetables
- Fruits
- Potatoes
- Soups and Broth
- Baking Supplies
- Condiments
As you’ll see, there’s a wide variety of inexpensive foods that you can bring together to make delicious meals. (Plus, I share an extra category of Bonus Foods under $1 and $2 dollars.)
Almost all the cheap foods I show you are shelf-stable and can be stored in your working or extended pantry. Only a few foods in the vegetable category need to be stored in your freezer.
